Make Your First Dollar Online: Learn How for Free
Wednesday, August 27, 2008 –I’ve been very light on the posting here during the month, but I have a pretty good excuse.
I have been following the Thirty Day Challenge online which began August 1st. It’s been held every year in the summer since 2005 and is totally free. You are taught internet marketing and the challenge is to make your first dollar online within the 30 days. It doesn’t sound like a lot, but the idea is that once you learn the basics, you can then replicate the process over and over.
The challenge is in its final week and I am finding it fascinating. It’s not so much about making a buck as it is about gaining the skills. The guys who run it, Ed Dale and Dan Raine, are top-notch internet marketers and I think they’re very cool guys to give their knowledge like this. The challenge has its own forum on the 30 day challenge website, daily training videos and transcripts and even a TV show over on Ustream.tv. I’ve been able to connect with a bunch of like-minded people and the community is a lot of fun. Apparently, there are eight millionaires out there who got their start online during the Thirty Day Challenges of the past 3 years. Whenever someone has success outside the usual rat race/corporate/cubicle box you know I’m all over it.
The main focus of the challenge is gaining traffic to your niche site through social networking, social bookmarking, blogging, articles, affiliate marketing and more. It was perfect for someone like me whose current interests include all of those things.
The best thing about the challenge? Even if you missed starting it on August 1st, the content will be up on the web for months to come. You can start it anytime and go at your own pace. Last time around, groups even sprouted up on Facebook dedicated to the month of the challenge you were doing–i.e, December 2007, etc. So even if you aren’t doing it “live” you can still take part–and I highly recommend it. I’ve learned so much and I considered myself to be somewhat savvy to begin with.
